The Comprehensive Kerbal Archive Network, or CKAN for short, is an open-source repository of metadata about mods for Kerbal Space Program, and associated tools, according to the CKAN website. This guide's provided as-is and is currently under construction, so check back later for updates! I take no responsibility for any issues you may encounter when installing KSP, CKAN or other end-user modifications to your computer and by using my guide you're agreeing to take responsibility for your own actions. I have no relation to Kurtjmac, Scott Manley, Squad (the developers of KSP), or the developers of the Comprehensive Kerbal Archive Network software and am providing this guide for informational purposes only. Everything in this guide should be considered unofficial. This is an amateur guide to modding a video game.

This guide assumes you are playing in Windows 7/8 as it is the OS I am currently using, although CKAN is available for every current PC platform available: Windows, Mac OS and certain Linux distributions like Fedora and Ubuntu. CKAN's a fascinating program that I've recently encountered myself which should hopefully help you with this process immensely.

This is my first published guide on the Steam Community, where I will teach you how to install mods easily in Kerbal Space Program with a little piece of software called CKAN, or the Comprehensive Kerbal Archive Network.Īs great as Squad and the KSP community are when it comes to promoting mod support, resources and experimentation with Kerbal Space Program, I know from personal experience how tedious it can be installing mods for a game. This under mono 4.0.0.Hello! My name is arbayer2. The GUI still suffers under the performance problem originally reported, still has some refresh problems, but the checkbox issue is sorted and seems to be properly in sync with the CLI.

So right now the CLI is working very well (both this test version and the previous under 4.0.0) with the exception that upgrade -all fails completely. Now that firespitter is sorted and Roverdude has updated his stuff, it's all working just fine. USI mods were convenient to test against because they are adequately large downloads, have dependencies, and were updated for 1.0, but ckan was reporting that KolonyTools were a package, which are actually embedded in UKS, and then the problems with the firespitter plugin were involved, and on and on. The problems with the tools detecting installs and all that jazz, that's all sorted, but I think it had to do with problems in the repository, not in code. The download speed problem remains unchanged - still need to wave the mouse around. There's still some lingering UI refresh issues, but nothing game breaking. The checkbox problem in the GUI appears to be solved. Been playing a fair bit here including with the build above. After an upgrade/install, the installing mods tab reports everything just fine - tells me what was removed, downloaded, installed, etc.Īfter upgrading NearFutureSpacecraft via GUI, installed-default.ckan shows the following: That said, it does upgrade/install fine under the GUI, and the CLI can see that it's been upgraded. You have to click on the window to get it to refresh and see whats going on. In both cases I get the changeset tab, but nothing is listed there. I get the same stack overflow when I check the box for a new package installation. Stack overflow in unmanaged: IP: 0圆395adc, fault addr: 0xbf78cf3c To start, it's got a problem when I select a package to upgrade which I never saw under 3.12 - when I check the upgrade box, it hangs for 5-10 seconds, spinning cursor (not quite long enough for me to force quit, but pretty close - so expect some support issues on that), I get the following log: Maybe that information isn't in the metadata, only in the downloaded package? I never installed 0.3.1, but that block is still filled in, and I've yet to successfully install 0.4.1 because the CLI refused. It looks like the install block fills in only for installed mods, but there's no information relevant to the local installation stored in there. Not quite as sure what's going on there in registry.
